I’m a Naarm/Melbourne based designer/researcher/educator highly specialised in translating emerging tech and design trends into digestible content, learning pathways, or research outputs for diverse design teams and meaningfully connecting organizational, stakeholder, client, and user needs. My work as design lead for Amber the RMIT/CSIRO Field Robots and AI report focused on design prototyping and developer management of AMBER - an ethics-focused dual output chatbot; fine-tuned ethics model vs base model comparison.
From 2018-2025, I’ve been a key member of the Digital Media team at RMIT University, where I have contributed as a course designer, lecturer, and program innovator. My role within the RMIT School of Design traverses shaping and delivering courses that span a wide spectrum—from Professional Industry focused training and Digital Media Studio practices, to specialized studies in UX/CX, Transformative Colour-Resonance, immersive digital environments, and collaborative human-AI operations. As an education designer, I’m deeply committed to crafting inclusive, impactful learning experiences that prepare students for an evolving digital landscape.
Beyond academia, I have a strong track record as a digital transformation consultant, where I partner with organizations to drive meaningful change and operational resilience through cutting-edge technologies and design thinking. This work involves developing tailored training programs, facilitating cross-functional collaboration, and designing strategies that ensure continuity and quality in service and product delivery. I believe in a design approach that encourages critical thinking, ethical practices, and a human/environment-centered focus.
“Cy’s work was a clear demonstration of his capacity to innovate within constraints… pushing the boundaries of what design and AI can achieve together....his ability to synthesise complex ideas from our multidisciplinary teams at CSIRO, Data 61 and RMIT was instrumental in the development of fine-tuning the base models we were working with.
I am keen to see where Cy’s work will lead to valuable insight, innovations and contributions that will
resonate across both industry, academic and policy domains.”
“I commissioned Cy Gorman as a media and audiovisual designer/producer to help bring my Fall collection, “BASS”, show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Sydney to life. Cy created the logo and brand animation, and integrated it onto digital screen bags that each model held whilst walking down the runway, broadcasting the animation live. The animation was synced to the audio beat, which Cy designed, engineered and produced. Cy is an all-round creative tech genius with an unstoppable drive to constantly push the boundaries of visual and audio design.”
I am a versatile designer and researcher with a background in both creative and technical process and product design, interactive digital media, and strategic system development. With expertise spanning industry, academia, and technology innovation, I specialize in creating human-centered solutions that align ethical technology implementation with a focus on collective well-being. My work is fueled by a passion for using design to inspire positive, sustainable transformations in learning and digital experiences.
As the founder of Nurobodi, a research startup dedicated to exploring advanced user experiences and well-being, I continuously expand my interests across AI, UX, and Web3. My pursuits also extend into the creative arts as a signed music producer, Qi Gong instructor, and experimental filmmaker.
In all my endeavors, I’m committed to supporting diverse voices and fostering environments that champion growth, innovation, and harmony.
