Nurobodi

๐ŸŽ›๏ธ Exploring how sound, light, and mood shape cognitive and emotional experience.

Nurobodi is a long-form research and design project I founded in 2017 to investigate how adaptive audiovisual feedback environments can support mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. It bridges disciplines โ€” affective (emotional) design, sonic interaction, colour perception psychology, and mindfulness โ€” to prototype interactive systems and environments that support heightened awareness and regulate cognitive-emotional states.

In short, Nurobodiโ€™s design principles are not passive โ€” they facilitate interfaces and experiences for emotional and cognitive alignment.

UX Case Studies

๐ŸŒˆ Nurobodi Design Method Areas

  • Mood-Space Systems
Interactive installations that use sound, light, and ambient feedback to support meditation, rest, or reflection.

    Empathy Design Studies
UX/UI feedback systems designed for emotionally resonant interaction โ€” focused on how users integrate thinking with feeling.

    Resonance Research
Investigating non-verbal vocal resonance signals and intuitive UX paradigms using sound and colour to amplify affective understanding.

    Biometric Research
Combining qualitative participant feedback with quantitative biometric data (e.g. EEG) to deepen insights into user experience

๐Ÿ“Š User Research/Case Study Formats

  • Immersive Analysis and Wellbeing Sessions

  • Participant Analysis Interviews

  • Mixed-Methods Evaluation (EEG + Interview)

  • Iterative Testing Environments

Nurobodiโ€™s Mission

At its core, Nurobodi is about resonance research and design โ€” creating affective feedback systems that respond to the userโ€™s mood, attention, and presence. It explores how colour, sound, light, and pattern influence states of consciousness and emotional regulation, particularly in UX contexts focused on self-awareness, rest, or reflection. Here as some reflections of Nurobodi sound/light experience participants reflecting on Nurobodiโ€™s design approach.

๐Ÿซ‚ Empathy Education Design for the future

Nurobodi is playing an increasingly significant role consulting and developing educational content focused on preparing audiovisual and interactive designers for increasingly immersive digital experience platforms. Central to Nurobodiโ€™s education focus are the links between colour, pitch and emotions as foundations for developing true empathy important for relationships, soft skills in the workplace and also crucial for design ethics in fully immersive audiovisual environments.
